Over the past seven years 1996-2002 Glascoat R & D division has carried out an extensive series of both laboratory and field trial and attempted to accurately define the major process oriented cause of glass-lining failure. The results of these extensive studies resulted into development of new glass frit which is more corrosion resistant, heat resistant and alkaline resistant compared to our conventional glass GEL-2000.

DEVELOPMENT OF GLASS :

Research of new coatings and development of new coating techniques is the fundamental part of Glascoat activity. Glascoat is engaged in continuous research and experiment on other type of glass to obtain coatings with improved characteristics, which once perfected, replace the existing product.

White C Glass (Gel-2202) :

White C glass Gel-2202 is derived from our standard Glass Gel-2200, which have been developed for use in particular operating condition. This is a ceramic coating, which provides superior benefits to those of the other glass coating. This glass-function varied even at higher than normal. It has improved thermal shock characteristic (? T 15o to 20o C on higher side).

In addition to high mechanical strength, the white glass has an excellent resistance to chemical action and optimum structural stability against all oxidizing and reducing agents. Their white colour considerably increases their reflecting power thus making them very suitable for photosynthesis process. In addition, because of the increased visibility that results, they can be used in process where it is required to observe the changes in the colour of the product. Because of the extreme hardness, use of the coating is recommended for operating condition involving mechanical stresses. Any crack in the surface caused by thermal strain is prevented from propagating by ceramic crystals, reducing the extent of damage.

Green C Glass (Gel-2203) :

The results of our on-going research enabled us to offer new glass formulation with greater capabilities. The formulation of this multipurpose glass gives the optimum properties of chemical resistantance to acidic and alkaline mediums, of mechanical resistance to shock and anti abrasion, of easy cleaning and anti adhesion, during preparation of each batch of green C glass Gel – 2203, nemours tests (DIN-ISO 2473) assure us of perfect & reproducible quality.

Green C- glass Gel-2203 has similar physical & Chemical characteristic like our white C- Glass Gel-2202. Only deviation is in the colour (Green) because this glass is generated from white C glass Gel-2202.

White band on agitator :

Our R & D division has developed a new application process to provide white band on agitators as per customer requirements on main pipe of agitators to enable to check the liquid level in process stage inside the reactor.

Glass lining on stainless steel for low temperature :

Objective : To meet particular needs by the recent medicine-producing field, where progress towards lower temperature is being made. Glass lining on stainless steel can be used in an extremely low temperature range (Cryogenic). Further more glass lining on stainless steel will full-fill a long felt need for pharmaceutical manufacturer concern with meeting FDA (Food and drugs administration) & GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) level.

Another significant part of a reactor is the mixer drive. The excellent design and consistent accuracy of drive component offers true running of shaft for many years. Each & every components of the drive is step mounted having machined matching faces. This facilitates quick & easy assembly/ disassembly without disturbing the alignment. They are in true sense User friendly – convenient to install, use and maintain.

Mixers are offered in various configurations for specific applications. Glascoat is the pioneer in introducing axial propeller agitators in India. These agitators provide true axial flow for better top to bottom mixing. These outperform old style retreat curve impellers which have a lot of swirl but little mass transfer.

The advance drive and more efficient agitator together results in lower energy consumption and reduced process time. A recent introduction has been Flange-mounted Beaver tail Baffle. These can be conveniently installed through a nozzle from top, without entering into the vessel or removing the contents. Flange mounting eliminates the need of stuffing box and glands. Hence the possibility of leakage through gasket or packing is eliminated. Such baffles provide another advantage in terms of lower minimum sensible volume.

Glascoat doesn’t keep itself constrained to the DIN standards. With constant innovation, it is creating its own benchmarks. Besides standards reactor, Glascoat also manufactures equipments to suit specific service conditions and to enable hassle-free maintenance as per our own design.
